You Can Change a Life

Farms to Friends was created to provide those in need with nutritious, fresh, locally grown food.  Since then, Farms to Friends has delivered over 4000 bags of fresh food to families and seniors in need, invested over $200,000 into the community through farmers and local food producers, and provided fresh produce to over 200 individuals including over 60 families with children.

After two years, and the elimination of government grants and subsidies, we recently had to pause Farms to Friends. We are reconfiguring the program, actively seeking funding, and accepting donations to make a return in the new year. With your support, we can restart the program.

“I have been able to create new things out of fresh and healthy foods PLUS my little guy is slowly warming up to veggies because of this. It’s helped him realize where things come from and that veggies can actually taste good. With a bag full of fun new surprises at our door it’s become an adventure to try new things. I really want him to learn where food comes from. He’s had such a fun experience with these bags. He’s learning different ways to cook. We are very grateful for this opportunity.”

– Christa Abbott, Farms to Friends participant

By making a small monthly donation today of $55 to Farms to Friends, you are helping 85 families just like Christa Abbott who have difficulty accessing and affording fresh food weekly.

A special thank you to all our volunteers!

Farms to Friends would of not have been possible without the help of our volunteers. Volunteers like Brad, who is just one of the volunteers who have delivered fresh goods to families in need. Brad is passionate about bringing food justice to the Kootenays.

He says “When I was growing up, there were a few times that times were tough for our family. I remember one year that my Dad had to work 2 jobs to keep us fed and pay the bills, I was 10 and my brother was 8. We never saw Dad except once or twice a month which put a strain on our mother. That year was the year that I learned how to really use my brain but it was a rough year for my mom. Farms to Friends takes some of that pressure off a family with kids, ensuring they have access to healthy nutritious food without adding stress on the family as a whole.”

You have the opportunity to help local families in need. Your monthly donation goes towards making fresh, local food accessible to our most vulnerable populations. You can change a life, today.
