With the start of May comes an exciting addition to our team; our Outreach Coordinator, Maya! We are so happy to welcome Maya on-board the EcoSociety team for the summer.
Born and raised in the Kootenays by ecologically minded parents, Maya has always had a special connection to the land and an interest in protecting it. Having left the Kootenays for Montreal to study, Maya started to take action about the issues she cares about.
“After graduating L.V Rogers, I moved to Montreal to study Political Science and Sustainability at Concordia University and became immediately involved in local grassroots organizing there. I volunteered and organized with Climate Justice Montreal before I moved to the Dish Project, a small non-profit organization working to reduce waste within the Concordia community.”
We’re excited about all the skills and experience that Maya will bring to coordinate our volunteers and organize on the 100% Renewable Kootenays team. We’ll also be keeping Maya busy on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the markets where she’ll be leading EcoSociety outreach.
So, if you find yourself at the Wednesday Downtown Market or Saturday’s Cottonwood Market then pop down to the EcoSociety booth and say hello to Maya.
