We are ramping up our 100% Renewable Kootenays outreach this summer and are lucky enough to have Lucas Burrows join us to work in Castlegar!

Lucas is working to build support for a renewable energy transition in Castlegar and as such, you can find him at the Saturday market and Wednesday Concert in the Park every week! So go and say hi and be sure to pick his brains about the 100% Renewable Kootenays campaign.

Here’s some words from Lucas, about Lucas…!

“My name is Lucas Burrows, and I’m a Nelson native. Growing up in the Kootenays with the wilderness out my backdoor and a creative culture in the city has shaped me into the person I am today. I’ve been studying music, first at Selkirk College, and have since moved to Edmonton to finish my degree in Music Composition at MacEwan University.

When I first started pursuing music, my goal was to compose music for films. However, since volunteering with the MacEwan Office of Sustainability, I realized that in order to feel personally satisfied, I need to be doing work that aligns with my values and brings positive change. For me, music alone can’t do that, but I believe writing the music for documentaries covering topics I am passionate about can.

I am excited to be working with the EcoSociety as the summer outreach student, which gives me the opportunity to do work that aligns with my values, and promote the “100% Renewable Kootenays” campaign.”
