Inspired by Gregor Robertson’s leadership, she joined Vision Vancouver, was elected to City Council in 2008, and re-elected in 2011 and 2014. As the lead councillor on the City’s award-winning Greenest City Action Plan, Councillor Reimer led efforts to make Vancouver a global leader in environmental action, validated by Vancouver being named the fourth greenest city on Earth in 2014. In 2013, she was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee medal in recognition of her leadership role on this initiative.
Andrea has also been a strong advocate for open government reforms, bringing in a world-leading Open Data program to make city information open and accessible. The program was cited by BC Business magazine as the reason for naming the City of Vancouver the most innovative organization in the province.
Andrea is not available to participate in the September 9 Public Forum Day of the conference, so this is your only opportunity to hear Andrea share lessons we can learn from Vancouver’s successes and ask her your questions.
