Jayme Jones is a such an inspiring woman. As a mother of two, and a very dear member of our community. She walks the talk by taking action in her own life and being a leader in her community.

This is why Jayme is involved with the EcoSociety:

“With two small children, a healthy environment has never been more important to me. I want my children to be able to enjoy clean air, water, and land for their lifetime and for the endless generations that come after them. The EcoSociety is an amazing group that is actively working to protect the environment for now and future generations.

From working to keep Jumbo wild, hosting amazing summer markets, or helping the Kootenays transition to 100% renewable energy, these are just some of the ways the EcoSociety is making a difference in our region. Working in many different communities, including Castlegar, Rossland, and Nelson, the EcoSociety is gaining strength and partnerships to make this positive change.

In Castlegar, where I live, the EcoSociety partnered with a couple churches to bring together a group of diverse and dedicated community members to discuss the climate crisis. This led to the creation of a successful climate action rally, with over 200 Castlegar residents attending. I was part of this group. It was an inspiring experience. I witnessed first hand how the EcoSociety not only works to protect the environment, but also to build a strong community.

Over the years, I have interacted with many EcoSociety staff and volunteers, and they are some of the most dedicated, caring individuals I know. I have witnessed some of these people being moved to tears by their passion to make this world a better place. This strengthens my resolve to do what I can in my busy life as a working mother to also do my part. This is why I am a proud member of the EcoSociety. I may not have the time volunteer as much as I would like; however, I know my monthly donation will help ensure that the work of EcoSociety continues.

Every volunteer hour worked or penny donated helps the EcoSociety bring awareness to the important environmental issues that face our region and globe. Now is the most important time to be involved for us, our children, and all future generations.
