On October 24, we had a fun hike in the woods to learn about the inland temperate rainforest and the plants and animals living here. 25 happy EcoSociety hikers joined Joanne Siderius, the Sr. Ecologist at the Kokanee Creek Nature Centre, on 100 Acre Wood Trail off the Murphy Creek Forest Service Road near Rossland.

There was a bit of snow, but we stayed warm walking through the ancient and beautiful trees.

You can learn more about the plants and animals that call intact old growth forest stands in the West Kootenay region home here.
