Congratulations, Nelson City Council, on making two important decisions last night that benefit Nelson residents, businesses and the environment!

Council voted ‘Yes’ to joining the regional composting plan. This is a huge step forward to help Nelson residents and businesses compost effectively, reduce use of landfills, and work towards carbon-neutrality. It’s part of the city and regional district’s commitment to 100% renewable energy by 2050. Great news!

Council also declared their support for a plan to recover Southern Mountain Caribou and protect vital habitat. The city will send a letter of support to the provincial and federal governments for the Bilateral Conservation Agreement that will help the caribou, protect habitat and support healthy communities.

Nelson City Council is making decisions that benefit the community and our region. We applaud them!
