Cottonwood Market is a critical piece of our local food system, and part of our region’s toolkit for getting to 100% renewable. The more we depend on food shipped from distant continets (where do apples come from in July? Chile), the harder it will be for us to use only renewable energy for our food, transportation, heating, and other daily needs. In addition to food sustainability, the market will also support community cohesion since it’s designed to host all kinds of events – from markets to weddings to music concerts and more.
On March 21, Nelson City Council will get a staff report and decide whether to move on to the next step of construction drawings.
