April 22nd marks the 50th anniversary of Earth day. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, let’s celebrate what really matters – healthy and safe families, strong and resilient communities and wild and accessible nature. EcoSociety volunteers and the Interfaith Collaborative have planed some awesome online events to bring our communities together on Earth day.
Join us for the days events:
- Morning – Earth Day Scavenger Hunt
Get your kids and get outside safely. Whether it’s in an open trail or park, in your backyard or alley, or walking down a quiet street, print off this Earth Day scavenger hunt or have it open on your phone. Get some fresh air while learning about your nature.
- 12-1:15pm 12:00-1:15pm – Interfaith Earth Day Vigil
Hosted by the EcoSociety and the Interfaith Climate Action Collaborative, the Interfaith Earth Day Vigil is celebrating our 4th anniversary and you are welcome to join us for devotions of prayer, song and music for the Earth. The Vigil is a space for everyone whether you just want to listen to some kind words or connect on your shared love of community and nature. Make new friends and watch Fools and Dreamers together. It’s an uplifting 30 minute, kid friendly documentary about a wildlife sanctuary in New Zealand and how one “hippy man” regenerated a 4000-acre forest. After the movie, we’ll have a community discussion about what lessons we can learn and action we can take in our own backyards together. Bring your popcorn & join the movie night. - Join our community wide fundraiser! Create a page, add a photo, say why you love the earth. The funds you raise will support transitioning to 100% renewable energy, protecting sustainable forests, and providing safe, local food security.
