Canada’s Clean50 has recognized West Kootenay EcoSociety’s contributions to the clean energy transition with two awards at their 2022 convening in Toronto. EcoSociety’s Deep Engagement Canvassing Project, Changing the Energy Conversation, in Partnership with the New Conversation Initiative was honoured with a Top Project Award. Montana Burgess, EcoSociety’s Executive Director, received an Emerging Leader 2022 Award for her leadership on the deep engagement canvassing project, publishing the Living Here solutions journalism project, and developing the West Kootenay 100% Renewable Energy Plan with nine local government partners, 15,000 supporters and 120 businesses.







Charity Village hosted its 2021 conference recognizing EcoSociety as a Finalist for Best Non-Profit Employer Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Awards (under 20 staff) for EcoSociety’s effort to create a safe space for all staff and volunteers to be able to show up fully as themselves and be part of building sustainable communities and defending nature.
