It’s gardening, it’s festive, it’s GardenFest!

Spring is in the air, and that means it’s GardenFest time! The 18th annual Nelson GardenFest kicks off Nelson’s market season on Saturday, May 11.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, GardenFest features more than 50 vendors and community groups to put you in the spirit of spring planting. With perennials, annuals, vegetable starts, trees and flowers, there will be just about everything a gardener needs to get started or add to an already great gardening endeavor.

Join us from 10 am to 3 pm at the Hall Street Plaza and 600 block of Baker Street and browse the stalls of vendors from Fruitvale to Balfour, Creston to Winlaw and just about everywhere in between. GardenFest regulars as well as new vendors will bring plenty of variety to the market.

The event is a Mother’s Day weekend tradition, so if you want to get something special for mom, bring her to the market. And that’s what GardenFest is really all about: unique, special, locally grown and produced plants, flowers, artwork, decor and more. It’s a once-a-year event you don’t want to miss.

The 600 block of Baker Street will be closed from 7 am until 4 pm on May 11. Please move parked cars from the street on Friday night to make it easier for the vendors to set up GardenFest early Saturday morning.

EcoSociety’s 2019 markets include the Saturday Cottonwood Community Market starting May 18, Nelson Downtown Local Market starting June 12, and the Friday night summer MarketFest street festivals on July 26 and August 23.
