Something’s been brewing in the woods, and it’s Nelson Brewing Company’s celebratory Spruce ‘N’ It Up — a special batch of spruce tip ale beer to help mark the West Kootenay EcoSociety’s 25th anniversary.

NBC is one of our long time supporters. Head brewer Simon Barna talks about their inspiration for this month’s special beer.

“Brewing a beer (what we do best) with a twist of nature to celebrate the EcoSociety’s 25th anniversary was an obvious choice. I hope you enjoy this spruce-infused northwest style pale ale,” he says .

“We at the Nelson Brewing Company have always felt that supporting the EcoSociety is a good fit for our business. Their values reflect some of our core beliefs of: sustainable agriculture, supporting local, environmental consciousness and strong community,” Simon says.

“The Nelson Brewing company chose to take a more sustainable approach to sourcing our ingredients when we became an organic brewery in 2006. This decision was made as a direct result of what we believed our community values to be.”

We’ve been working hard at protecting the wild Kootenays, keeping our communities sustainable, and encouraging action on important issues for 25 years. It’s a good time to increase the public’s awareness about our work and accomplishments.

None of it would be possible without support from people and businesses such as Nelson Brewing Company.

It’s also a time to focus on the future and our continued work on climate change, conservation and food sustainability. What better way to celebrate than with our own special brew from a local organic brewery?
