Canadians are heading to the polls!
On September 20, Canadians are heading to the polls again to vote. During this election, please consider sending a strong message to your leaders to:
- Invest in people and what we need to survive, not Big Oil & Gas companies and their CEOs
- Stop making this climate crisis worse. Enough is enough!
- Stand up for the most vulnerable people by providing a guaranteed liveable income
- Protect our country’s most vital ecosystems like the last of BC’s old-growth forests, and
- Support working families to transition to jobs in renewable and clean energy by providing skills training programs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
On August 31st, invitations were sent to the candidates from the four major parties with representation in the House of Commons. The candidates from the federal ridings of South Okanagan-West Kootenay and Kootenay-Columbia were invited to complete the West Kootenay EcoSociety’s 2021 Federal Candidates Survey.
Candidates were asked to complete the survey by September 8th and were given a 250 word maximum for written responses.
EcoSociety invited candidates based on the Leader’s Debate Commission requirements of having met a minimum of one of the following:
- Being represented in the House of Commons by at least one MP elected under the party banner on the date the election is called;
- Having won at least four percent of the national vote in the 2019 election; and
- Having shown that they receive at least four percent national support. This should be the case after at least five days after the election is called as measured by public polling
