The less emissions we burn, the longer we can enjoy deep power turns

For 10,000 years, the average global temperature hasn’t differed by more than 1 degrees celsius, it has been one of the most stable periods in our planets history. We have come to rely on the stable rhythm of the seasons. Our ski seasons rely on this too. Winter sports has been a core identifying factor of Canadian culture. Climate change threatens the future of our snow and this year we have the power to turn things around.

It’s been a long road to get to this point. 4 years ago we, the EcoSociety team, set out to do something revolutionary in our region. Our goal was to get all local governments in the West Kootenays to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050. It was ambitious, but we had a goal in mind to make our communities healthy, safe from the pollution from fossil fuels, safe from the fear of loosing our pristine seasons that allow us to ski in the winter and hike in the summer.

You have the ability to save our snow here in the Kootenays, for your own immense enjoyment and for future generations to get to enjoy it too. Each donation brings the us one step closer towards transitioning off of fossil fuels and on to renewable energy. This means less carbon emissions releasing into the atmosphere and a cooler climate in our region, keeping our snow light and flurry and here for years to come!
