Just in time for municipal elections, West Kootenay EcoSociety will host a collaborative evening discovering and discussing the environmental concerns of local youth. On Thursday, November 13 at 7pm, student work from three local classrooms will be displayed at the Nelson Chamber of Commerce as the starting point for a discussion about the future of our region.

The event is part of a work experience component of the West Kootenay Teacher Education Program. Three teachers went to their classes with the question “What is your vision for a sustainable future?” Students responded with words and pictres to express their concerns and hopes for the shape our world may take.  At the conversation cafe, we’ll examine the students work and then discuss how to educate the next generations about environmental concerns, what we should be doing about the concerns they have presented and, finally, how to foster community engagement with these issues. Key speakers for the evening will include Ecosociety Executive Director David Reid.

Admission is free, please come out and show your interest in, and concern for, environmental issues in the West Kootenays.
