We are happy to welcome Lauren Andres to the EcoSociety team for the summer.  Lauren will be working at the Downtown Market, Cottonwood Market, and MarketFest promoting waste reduction, composting and recycling.

Lauren will also working with our vendors to ensure the Markets are producing as little waste as possible.  As part of our zero-waste markets initiative, this year all take-away containers, cups, and cutlery will be compostable, washable, or recyclable.

You may see Lauren at one of our new bicycle trailer waste stations chatting with local market-goers while helping them sort their waste.

Wondering how to properly dispose of an item or material at home? Thinking about composting but wondering about the best system for your situation?

Don’t be shy!!

Lauren can answer your questions about waste reduction in the City of Nelson and throughout the RDCK.

She’s also eager to hear your ideas about how local governments can best facilitate increased municipal and regional composting.  EcoSociety is looking forward to your input as we prepare our contribution to upcoming government planning processes.
