The West Kootenay EcoSociety and the Rossland Sustainability Commission are hosting Rossland Green Drinks on Tuesday, October 27 from 5-7pm at the REDroom Lounge in the Prestige Mountain Resort.

Green Drinks is a global event, taking place in hundreds of cities around the world. Traditionally, Green Drinks is for people who work in the environmental field. In Rossland, all community members who are interested in environmental sustainability issues are invited to this casual gathering.

“This first event will be very informal,” said Ann Damude of the Rossland Sustainability Commision. “As a group, we may decide to include presentations or discussion on specific topics at future Green Drinks.  But the focus of Green Drinks will be to create an opportunity for folks to talk, debate, socialize and connect with others in the area who are passionate about anything that falls under the term sustainability.”

Green Drinkers are welcome anytime between 5 and 7pm to join the Green Drinks group at the REDroom. Individuals order and pay for their own beverages and meals and are encouraged to move around and talk with new friends and current colleagues.

“This is a great opportunity to connect with others in the community who care about the environment, especially if you are a professional looking to connect with other professionals and build community,” said Montana Burgess, Community Organizer with the West Kootenay EcoSociety.

Organizers hope to make Rossland Green Drinks a regular bi-monthly event to keep the environmental community in Rossland more closely connected in a casual and fun setting.

Nelson Green Drinks also takes place monthly. The next Nelson Green Drinks is Wednesday, October 28 at 5pm at Mike’s Place.
